Installing a Plug & Play monitor

By:

New monitors support Plug and Play (via VESA DDC), but do NOT include an .INF file (like other PnP devices). Here is how to get Windows 95 to use your new monitor's features:

If the video card also supports DDC (and most new video cards do), Windows 95 (all versions) offers an elegant solution:

  1. Right-click the Desktop and click Properties
  2. Select Settings, click Change Display Type
  3. Under Monitor select Change, select Show all devices
  4. If your monitor isn't listed, select (Standard monitor types) in the Manufacturers window
  5. In the Models window, select Plug and Play Monitor (VESA DCC)

That's all there is to it!
